strong fathers

I need help contribute

A one-of-its-kind program began in Forsyth County in the fall of 2009. Building off a national model and funded by the NC Division of Social Services, Strong Fathers will serve as an example for others across the state and nation.

bulletStrong Fathers is a group for men who want to improve how they raise their children … something all fathers can use.
bullet The Strong Fathers group is open to fathers, step-fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and men that are “like dads.”
bullet In the group, men can talk with other men, figure out together ways of fathering, and learn about taking leadership in planning for their children and carrying out these plans.
bullet Any father or male caretaker whose children are receiving child welfare services and who has been physically or emotionally abusive toward his partner
bullet Examples of those eligible for the program
bullet Fathers in families substantiated for abuse or neglect, including those receiving reunification or family preservation services
bullet Fathers in families determined to be In Need of Services
bullet Fathers who have a child in foster care.

Note: the physical and emotional abuse toward the partner does not have to be directly related to the child welfare case. Please contact the Gateway Office at 722-8173 for more information.
